NTPC Limited Explores Joint Power Projects with Tajikistan During Bharat Electricity Summit 2026

NTPC Limited is exploring potential avenues for collaboration with Tajikistan in the power sector, following a high-level meeting held during the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026.

The discussions were led by NTPC’s Chairman and Managing Director, with H.E. Juma Daler Shafoqir, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, along with H.E. Lukmon Bobokalonzoda, focusing on opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector. The meeting explored the possibility of jointly developing power projects in Tajikistan, including coal-based, gas-based, and floating solar initiatives. Senior officials from NTPC also participated in the interaction.

During the meeting, the Tajik delegation acknowledged NTPC’s recent capacity-building initiative conducted under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs. As part of this initiative, NTPC hosted 32 professionals from Tajikistan in India for specialised training during January and February 2026.

The interaction took place on the sidelines of the summit being held from March 19–22, 2026, at Yashobhoomi, under the patronage of the Ministry of Power.

The engagement underscores NTPC’s continued efforts to expand its international footprint while strengthening regional energy partnerships, particularly in emerging global markets.
