During the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Mehsana, NTPC and the Gujarat government signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly explore possibilities in both conventional and alternative energy domains. The agreement was formalised in the presence of key dignitaries, including Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, and state officials overseeing finance, energy, and petrochemicals.
NTPC, India’s largest integrated power utility, currently contributes about a quarter of the nation’s electricity supply. It boasts an installed generation capacity exceeding 83 GW and has an additional 30.90 GW in various stages of development, which includes 13.3 GW from renewable sources.
The company aims to reach 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, reinforcing India’s ambitions toward a net-zero emissions future.
Beyond traditional generation, NTPC is also expanding into emerging sectors such as electric mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen.
