The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has strengthened its partnership with PTC India Limited to enhance electricity procurement through power exchanges, aiming to reduce energy costs for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS).

Building on its earlier success, NCRTC has now expanded procurement through Power Exchange India Limited (PXIL) by introducing a second draw point at the Muradnagar receiving substation. The existing draw point at Ghaziabad is already generating annual savings of over ₹3 crore, and a similar reduction in costs is expected from the Muradnagar connection.

The initiative is being carried out in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation Limited (UPPTCL), following a formal connectivity agreement between the two entities.

As part of its sustainability goals, NCRTC plans to source nearly 15 per cent of its total electricity requirement through green energy each year, leveraging the Green Day-Ahead Market (GDAM). The move aligns with NCRTC’s broader objective of developing an energy-efficient and environmentally responsible rapid transit network for the National Capital Region.
