In a move to modernize Maharashtra’s power infrastructure, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has signed an agreement with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to implement advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions and energy storage technologies for grid optimisation.
The collaboration aims to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of the state’s electricity distribution network. Through AI-driven analytics and intelligent energy storage deployment, the initiative will help balance supply and demand, reduce power losses, and enable better integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.
Officials from both organizations stated that this partnership marks a key step toward creating a future-ready, data-driven electricity system that can adapt to growing renewable penetration and evolving energy consumption patterns. The project will also focus on pilot programs to demonstrate the potential of digital and storage solutions in strengthening grid resilience and reducing carbon emissions.
By leveraging GEAPP’s global expertise and MSEDCL’s vast distribution network, the initiative is expected to serve as a model for other Indian states aiming to transition toward smarter, cleaner, and more efficient power distribution systems.
