“We see significant demand from the power sector (NTPC, KSEB, MSETCL), renewables such as solar and EV, and the defence sector. Our solutions are also critical in the medical sector (AIIMS, Apollo), where sensitive, lifesaving equipment requires highly stable grounding.”
What leadership principles have guided InterTech through five decades of growth?
From the beginning, InterTech has focused on introducing technologies that move industries forward. In the early years, as India transitioned from manual processes to computerized systems, we brought paper shredders that helped improve data security. This was followed by innovations like electronic time switches and high-voltage test instruments.
By the 1990s, when infrastructure development was expanding nationwide, we introduced Troxler nuclear density gauges (Roadreaders™) to improve road construction quality. In 2010, we shifted focus once more to tackle long-term electrical safety by introducing Marconite – a permanent, 50- year earthing material. Through every stage, our principle has remained consistent: we don’t just sell products; we introduce technologies that set new standards for industry
How do you balance legacy expertise with the adoption of modern digital tools?
InterTech’s approach is rooted in solid engineering discipline. My time at Larsen & Toubro (L&T) taught me the importance of quality and precision – values that continue to guide us today.
We balance that foundation with continuous innovation through:
- Scientific Design: Using digital modelling to design earthing systems with predictable performance.
- IoT-based Development: Creating an application that converts earthing systems from passive installations into online, real-time monitored assets.
- Predictive Safety: Combining decades of experience with digital monitoring tools to ensure consistent performance over the system’s lifetime.
.What advice would you give to young engineers entering the electrical safety and grounding field?
Electrical safety and grounding are about protecting people, systems, and the environment – not just reducing resistance values. My advice to young engineers:
- Follow Standards Rigorously: Always comply with national and international safety codes. Even a small design or installation error can cause severe accidents or equipment damage.
- Respect Soil Health: Avoid chemical earthing compounds that harm the soil or groundwater. Choose non-toxic, inert materials such as Marconite.
- Avoid Water-Dependent Systems: With water scarcity increasing, earthing systems should function reliably without needing continuous recharging.
- Think Long-Term: Short-term savings often result in early system failures. Design with a 50-year service life in mind to deliver real value
An engineer’s true contribution lies in creating infrastructure that is safe, durable, and environmentally responsible.
InterTech is widely known for its earthing solutions. What makes your products different in safety, reliability, and performance?
Over the years, we’ve grown from supplying components to delivering complete earthing solutions. Our approach is built on three strong pillars:
- 50-Year Life with a 25-Year Warranty: Conventional earthing may last 5-6 years. Marconite delivers stability and performance for up to five decades.
- ZED Gold Certification: InterTech is the only earthing company in India with the Ministry of MSME’s Zero Defect Zero Effect Gold certification – reflecting our focus on quality and eco-friendly manufacturing.
- Material Quality: Marconite’s neutral pH (6.8–7.1) prevents corrosion, ensuring stable resistance and long operational life.
How important is proper earthing in today’s infrastructure projects?
Today’s systems rely on advanced electronics and expensive equipment, making proper earthing a financial and safety priority. Take solar power plants as an example:
- Asset Alignment: Solar modules have 25-30 year warranties. Protecting them with shortlived earthing compounds is inconsistent and costly.
- Water Dependence: Traditional systems rely on soil moisture, which fails during dry spells. This can leave inverters and control panels unprotected.
- Financial Impact: A single grounding failure can cause downtime, equipment damage, or even fires.
Marconite provides a long-lasting, maintenancefree solution that performs without water, matching the lifespan of modern infrastructure assets.
Which sectors currently see the most demand for InterTech’s earthing solutions?
We’re seeing growing adoption across the power utilities, renewable energy (solar and EV charging networks), defense installations, and medical institutions such as AIIMS and Apollo Hospitals, where reliable grounding is essential for sensitive equipment.
How do you tailor earthing solutions for different sites and project conditions?
Every project begins with a scientific measurement of soil resistivity. This data forms the basis of our design process
- Design Foundation: We use the Wenner Four-Point or Single Rod Method to measure resistivity at different depths. Without this information, designs risk being over- or underengineered.
- Site-Based Engineering: Once soil data is available, we create designs specific to local conditions and the type of equipment involved.
- Turnkey Execution: Our team manages the full project – from on-site testing to installation – so that each system maintains stable resistance whether it’s in a desert, coastal, or hilly area.
How does sustainability fit into InterTech’s manufacturing and design practices?
Sustainability is built into how we operate and manufacture.
- ZED Gold Status: As India’s only earthing company with this certification, we meet the highest national quality and environmental standards.
- Zero Waste: Our production process minimizes waste and saves energy through precision engineering.
- Responsible Supply Chain: We work only with environmentally responsible vendors and ensure all metal scrap is recycled.
With the rise of renewables, EV infrastructure, and smart grids, how do you see the demand for advanced earthing systems changing?
The demand is moving toward systems that are maintenance-free, intelligent, and integrated.
- Changing Industry Practices: Large infrastructures, such as high-rise buildings and data centers, are shifting from external grids to foundation-based earthing using reinforcement steel for better bonding.
- Smart Monitoring: IoT-based systems are becoming essential for remote, real-time health tracking of earthing setups.
- Water-Free Reliability: For solar plants and EV hubs, no-water solutions like Marconite offer long-term stability with minimal upkeep.
By combining our certified manufacturing process with IoT integration, InterTech is building the next generation of earthing solutions – smarter, safer, and designed to last for decades. EM
