In a significant milestone for India’s energy and mining sector, the Ministry of Coal has inaugurated Arunachal Pradesh’s first-ever commercial coal mine, marking the state’s formal entry into the country’s commercial coal production landscape.
The newly launched project aims to boost local employment, strengthen regional infrastructure, and contribute to India’s goal of self-reliance in coal production. The mine is expected to enhance the supply of domestic coal for power generation and industrial use, reducing the dependence on imports.
Officials from the Ministry highlighted that the launch aligns with the government’s broader vision under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiative, promoting responsible and transparent coal mining practices.
