PAHW has awarded two contracts worth KWD 36.4 million to develop a 400 kV underground cable network linking four major substations at South Sabah Al-Ahmad.

Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) has issued two major contracts worth a combined KWD 36.4 million (USD 118 million) for the installation of 400 kV underground cable systems that will supply electricity to key substations at the South Sabah Al-Ahmad housing development, located around 80 km south of Kuwait City.

Under the first contract, valued at KWD 17.8 million, TBEA Shandong Luneng Taishan Cable Company Limited will undertake the laying of high-voltage underground cables connected to the 1Z and 4Z substations. The second contract, worth KWD 18.6 million, has been awarded to EGYTEK Cables LLC to execute similar 400 kV cable works for the 2Z and 3Z substations.

These installations form a critical part of the power infrastructure planned for the large-scale residential project, ensuring stable and efficient electricity supply for future communities. The contracts also mark another significant step in Kuwait’s efforts to modernise power distribution systems and support expanding urban development in the southern region.
