India witnessed a moderation in power generation growth during September, reflecting a temporary slowdown in industrial momentum and lower demand from manufacturing sectors. According to preliminary data from power grid authorities, electricity output grew at a slower pace compared to the robust levels recorded in August.
The analysts attribute the dip to easing factory activity, reduced consumption in energy-intensive industries, and milder weather conditions that lowered cooling demand. The slowdown follows months of strong growth driven by peak summer loads, infrastructure expansion, and rising urban demand.
However, experts expect electricity generation to rebound in the coming months, supported by festive season demand, increased infrastructure spending, and the gradual pickup in industrial production.
Renewable energy sources are also expected to contribute a growing share, as India continues its push toward clean and reliable power generation.
Despite the short-term dip, the country’s overall energy outlook remains positive, underpinned by strong investment flows and expanding grid capacity across states.
