India and Brazil are intensifying their bilateral partnership, with both nations aiming to push trade beyond the $20 billion mark. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva held extensive talks on critical minerals, defence, technology, pharmaceuticals, and other key sectors, highlighting the strategic and longstanding ties between the two countries.
President Lula’s visit, accompanied by a 300-strong delegation of top CEOs, underscores the focus on expanding investment and partnership opportunities. PM Modi described the India-Brazil partnership as “beneficial for a long time” and emphasised that trade growth reflects mutual trust rather than mere numbers.
Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of inclusive technology and innovation for equitable progress, particularly for the Global South. PM Modi noted that the expansion of the India-MERCOSUR trade agreement would strengthen economic cooperation and open new avenues for commerce and investment.
Addressing the joint press conference, PM Modi stated, “In the discussions we had today, we spoke about our shared purpose and experience in every sector,” highlighting the commitment to deepen cooperation across multiple areas.
