Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has entered into an agreement with the Institute of Fire, Safety & Disaster Management Studies (IFSDMS) to conduct specialised live-fire emergency response training for its officers, aimed at strengthening preparedness for industrial emergencies.
The training programme will combine classroom instruction with practical simulations, allowing personnel to gain hands-on experience in handling fire incidents and other high-risk situations commonly encountered in large industrial facilities.
The agreement was signed by Dharmendra Kumar Sharma, Executive Director – Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), HPCL, and Dharmendra Wakharikar, Chief Coordinator at IFSDMS, in the presence of Vikram Mahurkar, President of IFSDMS and Managing Director of Checkmate Group.
Training will be conducted at the IFSDMS facility near Vadodara, which spans about 75 acres and is equipped with specialised infrastructure designed for emergency response training. The centre features industrial mock-ups, including process units and LPG installations, enabling participants to experience realistic fire and disaster management scenarios.
HPCL stated that the collaboration will strengthen the company’s operational readiness and safety culture, while improving the ability of its workforce to respond effectively to emergencies across its network of energy infrastructure facilities.
The initiative is expected to enhance industrial safety standards and emergency preparedness, ensuring that personnel are better equipped to manage critical incidents and protect vital energy assets.
