Dilip Buildcon Limited has secured the contract for the development of a 400 kV substation at Mekhali in the Belagavi district of Karnataka, after being declared the lowest bidder (L1) by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited. The project marks a significant addition to the company’s transmission infrastructure portfolio.
The project involves the establishment of a 400/220/33 kV air-insulated substation along with the construction of associated 400 kV and 220 kV transmission lines to strengthen the regional power transmission network. It will be implemented on a build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis under the tariff-based competitive bidding route.
The concession period for the project is set at 35 years from the commercial operation date. As part of the project structure, Dilip Buildcon will acquire 100 per cent equity in the special purpose vehicle formed for the project and will function as the transmission service provider.
In this role, the company will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of the project, including financing, detailed design and engineering, procurement of equipment, construction, testing, commissioning, and the long-term operation and maintenance of the transmission assets.
