Delta Electronics manufacturing plant in India supporting semiconductor growth

Delta Electronics is planning to significantly expand its manufacturing presence in India to support the country’s growing semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem, aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Sanjeev Srivastava, Business Head – Industrial Automation SBP, Delta Electronics India, said, “India is at an inflexion point in manufacturing, especially in semiconductors and electronics. Expanding our factory base is a natural step to support this growth.”

This expansion comes as India focuses on increasing domestic semiconductor production through initiatives like Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 1.0 and 2.0. Srivastava added, “We have already started manufacturing various products in these factories, and moving forward, we will expand these factories as well.”

From an industry perspective, semiconductors have become a key focus area. “In the last couple of years, semicon has become the buzzword in the industry,” Srivastava said. He highlighted that the sector is creating opportunities across the entire value chain, including both front-end and back-end chip manufacturing.

He noted that India is developing fab units along with OSAT (assembly, testing, and packaging) capabilities. Early investments by companies like Micron and Tata are building confidence in the industry. “I believe this is the future for India in the coming time,” Srivastava said.

The Indian Semiconductor Mission is gaining traction. “It’s on the rise, and people are accepting it. Industries are gearing up to meet those standards,” Srivastava said. He emphasized that Delta’s factories will play a key role in supporting this momentum.

Delta’s industrial automation division is preparing to support multiple segments. “We are geared up to cater not only to the semicon segment but also to electronics manufacturing and automotive sectors,” Srivastava said. He added that other sectors like machine tools and plastics are also part of Delta’s portfolio.

Delta provides comprehensive shop-floor solutions, including components and systems needed to run factories efficiently. The company also enables data movement from machines to software, giving complete visibility of operations. “Right from the management sitting in offices, they can see what is happening on the shop floors and how efficiencies are improving,” Srivastava explained.

As India builds its semiconductor ecosystem under ISM 1.0 and 2.0, factory readiness, automation, and digital visibility will be critical. Delta’s expansion plans are designed to support this shift and contribute to India’s growing manufacturing landscape.
