Centre Approves ₹81.12 Crore Plan to Expand EV Charging Infrastructure in Rajasthan

The Centre has approved a proposal by Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd (RRECL) to strengthen electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across Rajasthan, with financial assistance of ₹81.12 crore. The initiative aims to enhance charging accessibility across urban centres and key highways, supporting the state’s transition toward sustainable mobility.

Under the approved plan, a total of 591 EV charging stations will be installed at 262 locations across Rajasthan’s four smart cities and along major highways. The deployment is expected to significantly improve the state’s EV ecosystem and facilitate wider adoption of electric vehicles.

The proposal was submitted under the Prime Minister’s e-Drive scheme, which focuses on promoting green energy and accelerating EV adoption nationwide. Officials stated that the project marks a key step toward advancing clean mobility infrastructure in the state.

City-wise deployment includes 112 charging stations in Jaipur, 49 in Ajmer, 39 in Udaipur, and 28 in Kota. Additionally, 34 stations will be set up along national and state highways to support intercity EV travel. All charging infrastructure will be installed on land owned by government departments.

According to officials, the expanded network will enable smoother long-distance EV travel and improve access to charging facilities. The initiative is also expected to drive the adoption of non-polluting electric vehicles, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen Rajasthan’s green energy framework.
