BHEL Secures ₹13,500 Crore NTPC Order for Telangana Stage-II Supercritical Thermal Power Project

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a leading public sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise, has announced the receipt of a major order from NTPC Limited for the development of the Telangana Stage-II Supercritical Thermal Power Project. The Notification of Award (NOA), valued at over ₹13,500 crore (excluding GST), was received on March 29, 2026, and disclosed to the stock exchanges on March 30, 2026.

The contract pertains to the main plant package of the 3×800 MW project located in Peddapalli district, Telangana, and was awarded through international competitive bidding. Under the scope of work, BHEL will undertake design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning, and testing of the boiler, turbine, and generator (BTG) package, along with associated civil and structural works.

BHEL had emerged as the successful bidder for the project in October 2024, following which a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) was issued in November 2024 to initiate basic engineering activities. The company is required to complete the facilities for the main plant package within 62 months from the date of the NOA.

Both BHEL and NTPC are Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), and the order does not fall under related-party transactions, the company clarified in its regulatory filing submitted to the exchanges.
