ACME Solar Holdings Ltd (ACME Solar), through its subsidiaries, has commissioned an additional 155 MW / 470.25 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) capacity in Rajasthan, taking the company’s total commissioned BESS capacity to 297.67 MW / 951.74 MWh out of the planned 835 MW / 3,114.64 MWh across its special purpose vehicles (SPVs).
The newly commissioned BESS projects are located in Rajasthan and are connected to the existing operational Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) network. These projects will operate on a merchant basis, enabling the company to generate additional revenue by leveraging the price differential between peak and non-peak power demand periods.
The battery storage systems are designed to improve grid efficiency by storing electricity during periods of low demand and supplying power during peak consumption hours. This operational flexibility is expected to strengthen grid reliability, optimise power utilisation, and support better balancing of energy supply and demand, thereby enhancing overall grid stability.
Battery Energy Storage Systems play a crucial role in integrating renewable energy into the grid, particularly in states with high solar generation, by addressing intermittency and ensuring consistent power availability.
