WAGO considers India as a high potential market. As a testimony of this fact, WAGO India has recently set up a new production facility in Vadodara. Spread over 1 lac square meter with the planned investment exceeding INR 300 crore in phases, the new factory caters to domestic demand and global exports as well. It will allow us to enhance our product portfolio for Indian market and become more competitive. With our 18 sales offices and over 100 channel & solution partners across India, we serve the industry with our comprehensive range of Electrical Interconnection, Interface Electronics and Automation Control products and solutions. 2.What has been WAGO journey during the COVID period and after the lockdown?
The first wave of the pandemic stalled the progress of Infrastructure projects in both the public and the private sector. For over 2 months the manufacturing sector was largely shut. This did affect us as orders begin to dry up. The start of 2021 saw the market recover. The second wave created doubts once again. But this time industry was better prepared. Learnings from recent past helped us to continue business critical functions without compromising safety. In fact, at WAGO India, we posted our best sales ever in 2021. The momentum is continuing in 2022 with healthy sales trend and upbeat forecast so far.
3.What are the market’s challenges, particularly in terms of price and technical advancements?
India has traditionally been a price sensitive market. Often it creates challenges for companies that do not wish to compromise on quality for price competitiveness. We do believe India has a market segment for every price bracket. We are happy that our customers prefer higher quality product over other economical alternatives. We consider the ever-evolving technology and faster adaptation as an opportunity rather than a challenge. It inspires us to innovate to retain our market leadership. Since beginning, WAGO has been empowering its customers with ground-breaking ideas & innovations ranging from screwless connection technology, lever actuation in connectors & fieldbus independent automation controllers which have now become an industry standard. With the global infrastructure and resources, the company will continue to set higher benchmarks for itself with each success and constantly strive to remain future ready.
4.What are the new add-ons in WAGO offerings?
Everything we do at WAGO is built around our core philosophy of “empowering our customers”. This guiding principle of customer centricity has always inspired us to make usage of WAGO products - simpler, faster, safer and sustainable. Some of the recent additions include all-new control cabinet power supply module - Pro2 with 96% efficiency to offer higher energy savings and reduced carbon footprints. WAGO customizable IoT Box includes fieldbus independent automation systems that enable organizations with legacy operational infrastructure to take a step towards digitizing ‘brownfield’ systems, connecting machine data to the cloud and gain all the benefits of Industry 4.0. With our experience in automation, we know that in many cases, transferring large and complex data from machines directly to a cloud is resource-intensive and not feasible due to the low latency often prevalent in industrial applications. WAGO understood this challenge and introduced Edge devices. The Edge Controller and Edge Computer are the right solutions for specific requirements relating to memory, computing power and project design in existing automation system. Instead of enormous data volumes being sent to the cloud, a portion of the processing takes place at the network's edge. This edge processing allows smooth application operations that require low latency.
5.Please share an overview of your solutions for Energy sector.
The energy transition from generation, distribution, storage to consumption requires the interaction of all the players. Technologically, WAGO is represented in many different areas of the energy industry with automation technology, interface electronics and connection technology. The main objective of the power generation and distribution industry is ensuring power supply safety and reliability while paying attention to efficiency and low costs when installing their systems. They are also required to connect systems of a certain size to the control system of the grid operator so that they can be monitored remotely as required. To enable this communication between electricity producers and grid operators, the operators of power plants revert to telecontrol protocols. WAGO automation controllers provide a standardized and easy-to-use interface for users based on the IEC 60870-5-101/-103/-104, 61400-25, 61850-7-420, MODBUS, DNP3 standards. Our proven experience with municipal utilities, system operators, system integrators, station builders and industrial customers alike enables us to become reliable partner to the energy industry for many years.
