Q.In this competitive market, what makes Modutec stand out as the preferred choice?
We have been pioneers & undisputed leaders in India for the maximum number of IEC 61439 1&2 Type Testing done, with various switchgear makes, on a modular switchboard enclosure system, and as an Indian Company. The design, flexibility & adaptability delivered make MODUTEC the most versatile electrical enclosure system at the most affordable price in the world. As an enclosure OEM, we have pioneered the concept of MODHUBs in India and plan to expand it globally in the near future. These world-class mechanical fabrication companies manufacture the non-signature components of MODUTEC under licence and sell them to various spokes (Panel Builders, System Integrators, or OEMs) within a defined geographical territory. Partner training programs are regularly conducted on-site and at MODUTEC factory premises to ensure, enable, and empower the learning required to excel in serving customer needs. A certificate is issued on completing such programs authenticating the knowledge imparted and competence gained. Beyond this, MODUTEC is an idea, the time for which has come. Panel Builders need to be faster, smarter & compliant. They also need to be assetlight and focused on just Electricals in areas such as Digitalisation, Automation & AI. India is shining, and much needed electrical distribution can’t wait. This is the case in several parts of the world. Some parts of Africa are yet to experience electricity
Q.How has 2024 been for Modutec in terms of technological advancements and overall business trajectory?
Huge strides have been made. We passed the internal arc test on the very first attempt, as per IEC TR 61641 for LV Switchboards. We have improved the quality of various accessories and design software. We have introduced Alu Zinc for the interiors of our enclosures. We are presently exploring a more superior metal called ZAM or Zinc, Aluminium and Magnesium with much better tensile strength and anti-corrosive properties. We are adding another 50,000 sq ft state-of-theart industrial infrastructure to our manufacturing facilities. We should inaugurate this by May 2025. In 2024-25, sales have grown by over 50% compared to 2023-24, and we are expected to continue this in the coming couple of years. By 2027-28, the target is to be a Rs 100 Cr Company. To strengthen execution, we are in the process of investing in a couple of CNC Laser machines, CNC Press Brakes, Power Presses with accessories, a tool room facility for die maintenance and a continuous process of Powder Coating. Further investment in 3D design software, ERP and IT Server etc are on the anvil. Modutec also seeks to leverage automation and digitalisation for their factory switchboards and systems. Above all these, we are seeking to invest in right people, in the junior, mid and senior levels to strengthen our team and prepare for the scaling we visualise.
Q.Could you elaborate on the segments your company currently serves, and are there any plans for expansion in the coming years?
The segments we serve are
1. Panel Builders who care for quality, compliance & scaling fast.
2. System Integrators who seek a flexible, sturdy and versatile enclosure, that evolves to meet their customised requirements.
3. OEMs or Original Equipment Manufacturers who need enclosure solutions that suit their specific needs.
4. Distributors who stock and sell MODUTEC product solutions. Ideally, they have an in house modification centre for customising the enclosures with suitable cutouts etc.
5. Specifiers who approve the make and technical datasheet of the enclosures in their project tenders.
Expansion is a priority and planned in the area of networking racks, 33 KV Medium Voltage typetested panel basic kits, moulded pan assemblies, compact power distribution systems and so on. We also intend to give the main, dropper and terminal connecting bus bar development drawings given a specific GA Drawing with power flow. Software is another area of continual improvement & introducing 3D drawings will be our next endeavour making the lives of panel builders more easy and focused on their core-competence.
Q.Can you share more details about the unique specifications of Modutec’s specialized product range, such as MODDIS, MODBAY, MODDRW, MODMED, and MODDIS DD?
Just as a cup of tea is savoured by the quality, pedigree and process followed in the making of its ingredients, so also is an electrical switchboard enclosure. At MODUTEC, we adopt detailed research in identifying such raw materials that would serve our customers much faster than our competition. Regarding specifications MODUTEC is switchgear agnostic and hence renders choice of 6 makes presently with certification. Coming to standardisation, MODUTEC advises their users to hold stocks based on their respective geographical, segmental & customisation needs. Alongside is a dimensional chart which advises colour wise, the fast, medium & slow moving sizes. Freezing on one or two heights and adding two unequal depths in different combinations, helps the MODUTEC panel partner to minimize inventory and maximize output!
