Hitachi Energy will deliver China's first SF6-free 420 kV Dead Tank Breaker (DTB) to the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC). This remarkable result represents a big step toward decarbonizing the electrical system and is consistent with China's ambitious goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2060.
SGCC is the world's largest utility business, servicing more than 1.1 billion people in 88% of China's land. As an energy industry leader, SGCC has made a significant commitment to sustainability and produced an ambitious carbon-neutral action plan.
The SF6-free 420 kV DTB is part of Hitachi Energy's EconiQ sustainability portfolio, which includes products, services, and solutions that have been scientifically validated to provide superior environmental performance. The breaker reduces greenhouse gas emissions by substituting sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) with a sustainable gas mixture while preserving the same dependable performance and compact construction as traditional options.
Hitachi Energy, with its expanding array of eco-efficient high-voltage products, is ideally positioned to address the growing demand for sustainable and dependable power grid solutions.
The EconiQ high-voltage series includes SF6-free Live Tank Breakers (LTA) for 72.5 kV, 145 kV, 420 kV, and 550 kV voltages, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) for 72.5 kV, 145 kV, 420 kV, and 550 kV voltages, Gas-Insulated Lines (GIL) for 420 kV voltage, DTB for 420 kV and 550 kV voltages, and retrofill for GIL for 420 kV voltage.
