Revolt Motors Gears Up to Launch Electric Bike Exports Globally

18 Sep 2024

Revolt Motors is set to start exporting its electric motorcycles, beginning with Sri Lanka, according to RattanIndia Enterprises Chairperson Anjali Rattan.

The company has received significant interest from countries including Nepal, Bangladesh, Brazil, and several regions in Africa. “We are initially launching in Sri Lanka. As we expand our product portfolio and tailor our offerings to meet customer needs in these regions, we will broaden our global presence,” Rattan shared with the media.

Revolt currently offers models such as the RV400 and RV400 BRZ and is preparing to unveil a new product shortly. Initially co-founded by Micromax founder Rahul Sharma, Revolt Motors is now a wholly owned subsidiary of RattanIndia Enterprises, a BSE-listed company with diversified interests in e-commerce, fintech, and the drone sector.

To facilitate its Sri Lankan expansion, Revolt has partnered with Evolution Auto for distribution and plans to open 15 dealerships across the country within the next four months. Rattan also stated that the company has sufficient production capacity to meet expected growth over the coming years, with a manufacturing capability of up to 162,000 electric motorcycles annually.

She further emphasized that since taking over the company in January of last year, significant efforts have been made to enhance the supply chain and ramp up production. With the Indian government’s recent announcement of incentives under the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE), the market outlook for electric two-wheelers appears promising.

Under the PM E-DRIVE initiative, the government will provide a subsidy of INR 10,000 per electric two-wheeler to boost electric vehicle adoption, aiming for a 10% penetration in the two-wheeler market. The scheme is expected to support the sale of 2.479 million electric two-wheelers by March 2026. In FY24, electric two-wheeler sales in India saw a 30% increase, reaching 947,087 units, with electric models accounting for 5.4% of total two-wheeler sales.
