The National Committee for Transmission has put forward a series of transmission projects totaling Rs 225.4 billion for approval by the Ministry of Power. These recommended projects are designed to enhance and expand the country’s power transmission infrastructure.
Among the key projects is the Gujarat offshore wind project, which is estimated to cost Rs 69 billion. This initiative aims to develop the necessary transmission infrastructure to channel power generated from proposed offshore wind farms along the Gujarat coast.
Another significant project is the Tamil Nadu offshore wind project, which has an estimated investment of Rs 62.42 billion. This project is intended to establish the transmission infrastructure required to support offshore wind energy production along the Tamil Nadu coast.
Additionally, the committee has proposed a Rs 16.63 billion project focused on upgrading transmission infrastructure in the Western Region. This project is specifically geared towards accommodating power generated by upcoming pumped storage projects in the area.
Furthermore, there is a proposal for the augmentation of the Bhuj-II Substation, which is projected to cost Rs 5.87 billion. This investment aims to enhance the substation's transformation capacity and incorporate additional bus reactors to improve efficiency and reliability.
