REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) has officially transferred two project-specific special purpose vehicles (SPVs) to Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) and Sterlite Grid 38 Limited.
The transferred SPVs include Khavda IV A Power Transmission Limited, which has been handed over to AESL, and Khavda IV C Power Transmission Limited, which will now be managed by Sterlite Grid 38 Limited. These projects are crucial for the evacuation of power from the Khavda region in Gujarat, a key component of Phase IV, which supports a total capacity of 7 GW.
The Khavda IV A Power Transmission project encompasses the construction of a 310.31 km 765 kV transmission line, the establishment of 765 kV and 400 kV bus sections at the KPS3 gas-insulated substation (GIS), and related infrastructure. Meanwhile, the Khavda IV C Power Transmission project involves setting up a 765/400 kV substation with 4 x 1500 MVA capacity and a 400/220 kV substation with 2 x 500 MVA capacity at Boisar-II (GIS), along with the construction of 257.29 km of 765 kV line and 20.725 km of 400 kV line.
AESL and Sterlite Grid 38 Limited were selected as transmission service providers for the Khavda Phase IV Part A and Part C projects, respectively, through a tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by RECPDCL. Both projects are slated for development on a build, own, operate, and transfer basis, with an implementation timeline of 24 months.
