On Friday, State-owned Power Grid Corporation of India Limited announced its successful acquisition of the project special purpose vehicle (SPV) for Bhadla-III and Bikaner-III Transmission Ltd through a competitive tariff-based bidding process. This acquisition, detailed in a regulatory filing, follows Power Grid Corporation's selection as the successful bidder in the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process.
As part of this acquisition, Power Grid Corporation will oversee the implementation of the "Transmission System Strengthening for Interconnections of Bhadla-III & Bikaner-III Complex" project. The project will be carried out on a build, own, operate, and transfer (BOOT) basis, allowing Power Grid Corporation to manage and execute the project through its lifecycle before eventually transferring ownership.
The scope of the project includes the construction of a high-capacity 765kV double-circuit transmission line that will connect the Bhadla-III and Bikaner-III substations. Additionally, the project will involve significant bay extension works at these substations, all of which are located in Rajasthan. This infrastructure development is intended to enhance the transmission network’s capability and reliability, supporting the growing energy needs of the region.
