Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a contract agreement with Adani Power Limited (APL) and its subsidiary Mahan Energen Limited (MEL) for the development of three supercritical thermal power projects worth more than Rs 11000 crore, excluding GST.
According to BHEL, the agreement represents a significant advancement in India's power infrastructure and consolidates its position in the industry. The contract, signed on Sunday, August 25, involves the supply of critical equipment and the supervision of the construction and commissioning processes for three major power projects.
Each project has a power output of 2x800 MW and is based on cutting-edge supercritical technology. There are two phases in Rajasthan and Mahan Phase III in Madhya Pradesh where the projects will be developed. This arrangement mandates the provision of an extensive array of apparatus, comprising boilers, generators, and other supporting equipment.
The agreement also encompasses control and instrumentation systems. Additionally, BHEL will oversee the installation and commissioning of these systems, ensuring that the projects adhere to all operational and performance requirements.
