The National Committee for Transmission has recommended transmission projects worth 22,540 crore for the Ministry of Powers approval, marking a significant push towards enhancing India's power infrastructure. Among the significant recommendations are two significant transmission initiatives in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, each of which is estimated to cost approximately 6,000 crore. These initiatives aim to integrate the initial offshore wind projects into the national grid, a crucial step in advancing India's renewable energy objectives.

The recommendation of Rs 22,540 crore encompasses a diverse array of projects. Notably, the Gujarat Offshore Wind Project, which has an estimated cost of Rs 6,900 crore, focuses on transmitting power from proposed offshore wind farms along the Gujarat coast. Similarly, the Tamil Nadu Offshore Wind Project, valued at Rs 6,242 crore, is intended to establish transmission infrastructure for offshore wind energy along the coast of Tamil Nadu.

Additionally, the committee has proposed a project worth Rs 1,663 crore to enhance transmission infrastructure in the Western Region, specifically targeting the power generated by upcoming pumped storage projects. Another crucial element is the expansion of the Bhuj-II Substation, which will necessitate an investment of Rs 587 crore to enhance the transformation capacity and incorporate bus reactors.
