State-owned BHEL said on Monday it has bagged a 1,600 MW project from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). The coal-based unit will be set up in Jharkhand's Koderma district on an EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) basis.
The 2x800 MW Koderma Supercritical Thermal Power Project (STPP) has been awarded through International Competitive Bidding (ICB), the statement said. This is the first such project for DVC in terms of capacity and will be set up next to the existing 2x500 MW units installed earlier by BHEL, the statement said.
BHEL further said that it has a long-term partnership with DVC and has set up more than 80 percent of DVC's coal-based power stations in Jharkhand and West Bengal. DVC's new project involves civil works as well as supply, construction, and commissioning. The main equipment for the project will be supplied by BHEL's manufacturing units.
