Manohar Lal, the Union minister of power and minister of housing and urban affairs, inspected the on-going works at the Tehri Power Complex in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. Once completed, this facility is poised to significantly enhance India's renewable energy capacity, with a combined output of 2400 MW.

During his tour, Manohar Lal scrutinised the construction activities at the 1000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (PSP), a crucial component of India's renewable energy infrastructure. His inspection included areas such as the Butterfly Valve Chamber, the Machine Hall, and the Outfall of the Tehri PSP. He also reviewed the progress on river joining works, which were essential for integrating the PSP into the existing water management systems.

The minister expressed his approval of the ongoing initiatives and extended his sincere congratulations to the THDC team for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment towards advancing renewable and dependable hydropower generation. He noted, "The Tehri Dam represents a remarkable milestone for THDCIL, accomplished at a time when the notion of such a vast dam seemed almost unimaginable." The Tehri Dam development is nothing short of a miracle and an engineering marvel in its own right."
