In order to achieve India's renewable energy goals, the Ministry of Power has issued instructions to all states and union territories to implement revised electricity regulations that encourage open access to green power.
As per the official government notice dated February 12, entities possessing a contracted demand or sanctioned load of 100 kW or more are now eligible for Green Energy Open Access, a program that facilitates the utilization of renewable energy.
“It is requested that all States/UTs take appropriate measures to implement the electricity (Promoting Renewable Energy through Green Energy Open Access) Rules 2022 (as amended from time to time) notified by the Central Government and ensure that open access regulations are aligned on an aggregate basis with the notified Rules at the earliest convenience,” the notification reads.
