Lockdown constraints amid second wave of Covid-19 a downside risk for electricity demand: ICRA

On Friday, the state-owned NTPC said that it has signed a preliminary agreement with NALCO to supply over 1,200 MW of power to the aluminium maker's operations in Odisha. The MoU was signed in the national capital in the presence of NTPC Director (HR) Dillip Kumar Patel and NALCO Director (Projects & Technical) Jagdish Arora, as stated by the power producer in a statement.
“NTPC has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) to supply around 1,200 MW or more of uninterrupted power to NALCO in order to support its expansion of smelter plant capacity in Angul, Odisha,” according to the statement. The statement further stated that the available supply options would encompass coal-based thermal, solar, wind, energy storage, or a combination thereof.
