Lockdown constraints amid second wave of Covid-19 a downside risk for electricity demand: ICRA

According to a media report, the Power Grid Corporation of India is estimating a capital expenditure of Rs 1.88 lakh crore by the year 2032. This investment plan breaks down into four categories: cross-border efforts (worth 10,000 crore), intra-state transmission projects (worth 37,000 crore), inter-state transmission projects (worth 1.16 lakh crore), and international operations (about 7,500 crore). The state-owned transmission firm intends to set aside an additional 15,000 crore for the development of smart metering infrastructure within the given timeframe. To underscore its dedication to sustainable energy, the business has set aside Rs 1,000 crore for the development of solar power plants.
