Advanced Energy Announces new series of ultra-miniature isolated single and dual-output high voltage DC-DC converters

Advanced Energy has announced a new series of ultra-miniature isolated single and dual-output high voltage DC-DC converters. The Advanced Energy UltraVolt© AEQ series optimizes power conversion in a wide range of medical, life science, industrial and semiconductor equipment applications.In comparison to other small form size DC-DC converters, devices in the AEQ series provide up to 600 VDC at 0.5 W output power from an input voltage of +5 VDC. These include a voltage-proportional output that allows for full programmability from zero to the highest rated value. Within 5% of maximum VOUT and full load, output stability is achieved. In addition to facilitating compliance in medical and life science applications, a high input-to-output isolation rating of 1500 VDC facilitates accurate output voltage control and satisfies safety standards necessary for portable equipment.Due to their small size, ease of voltage control, output voltage accuracy and stability, the AEQ series is ideal for use in high-voltage (HV) applications where reduced space and weight are mandatory requirements. From silicon detectors and avalanche photo diodes to MEMS devices and ultrasonic transducers, the series is especially well-suited for hand-held and portable devices. Its customizable control improves flexibility, accuracy, and dependability to meet specific application requirements.The AEQ series consists of unipolar models ranging from 100 V to 600 V, and bipolar models ranging from 50 V to 300 V; higher power and voltage levels are anticipated for further releases. The converters are shielded from shock and vibration by being enclosed in a solid vacuum-encapsulated packaging measuring 0.5“ x 0.5” x 0.5” inches (cube). The safety of each device has been certified by UL/cUL and IEC-62368-1.
