At a gathering at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant, Prime Minister Modi launched the construction of an 800 MW state-of-the-art thermal power unit.
This ?8,470 crore project, covering 233 acres, is poised to greatly boost Haryana's energy self-sufficiency and guarantee a reliable power supply for its residents. "Increasing electricity production is crucial to prevent power shortages from impeding our nation's progress," the Prime Minister emphasised.
He emphasised the government's commitment to boosting electricity production in the state and unveiled a goal to increase the state's power generation capacity to 24,000 MW in the coming years, up from the current 16,000 MW. Modi also inaugurated the foundation stone for a compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Mukarabpur. Aligned with the GOBARdhan (Galvanising Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan) initiative, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 2,600 metric tonnes.
PM highlighted the government's dual-pronged energy strategy, stressing the significance of both traditional and renewable sources. He underscored the PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli Yojana, which empowers citizens to install rooftop solar panels, eliminate electricity bills, and even earn income by selling surplus power back to the grid.
