More than 4.32 lakh households across India are now receiving free electricity under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a government initiative aimed at promoting rooftop solar power adoption. The scheme, launched to make solar energy more accessible to residential consumers, has gained significant traction, helping households reduce their electricity bills while contributing to India’s renewable energy goals.
Under this initiative, eligible households receive financial assistance to install rooftop solar panels, enabling them to generate their own electricity. The surplus power produced can also be fed back into the grid, further benefiting consumers through net metering. The scheme is a key step toward achieving India’s clean energy transition, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and empowering citizens with sustainable energy solutions. With continued government support and growing interest, the number of beneficiaries under PM Surya Ghar is expected to rise in the coming months.
