Mahindra Renames EV amid IndiGo Protest, Plans to Move Court

Mahindra & Mahindra said on Saturday that it will remove the 'E' from the name of its new electric SUV, 'BE6E,' following objections from InterGlobe, the parent company of IndiGo Airlines, over the use of the flight code 6E. Despite this change, the company stated that it plans to challenge InterGlobe's objections regarding the naming of its new electric vehicle, the BE6E.

Mahindra, which received a notice from Interglobe regarding the issue, stated that it plans to contest the matter in court after Interglobe raised a legal objection to the use of "BE6e" for Mahindra's new electric car, a name the automaker had referred to as "Be Sexy."

Mahindra said that it will pursue the brand rights for "BE 6e" in court, while Interglobe has sought control over the '6E' brand. On November 26, Mahindra unveiled its electric-origin SUVs, the 'BE 6e' and 'XEV 9e,' and also filed for trademark registration under Class 12 (vehicles) for "BE6e" as part of its electric SUV portfolio.
