Centre Sanctions Two Hydro Projects worth Rs 3,689 Crore in Arunachal Pradesh

On Monday, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) gave its approval for two hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh, with a total investment of Rs 3,689 crore. Following the cabinet meeting, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the CCEA had sanctioned an investment of Rs 1,750 crore for the 186 MW Tato-I hydropower project in Shi Yomi district and Rs 1,939 crore for the 240 MW Heo hydropower project.

The minister stated that the electricity generated from both projects will enhance the power supply in Arunachal Pradesh and contribute to stabilising the national grid. The projects will be executed through joint venture partnerships between North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) and the Arunachal Pradesh government.

The minister added that for the Tato-I project; the central government will provide Rs 77.37 crore as budgetary support for construction of roads, bridges, and associated transmission lines under enabling infrastructure, besides central financial assistance of Rs 120.43 crore for the state's equity share.

He said that for the Heo project, the Government of India will provide Rs 127.28 crore as budgetary support for construction of roads, bridges, and associated transmission lines under enabling infrastructure, in addition to the central financial assistance of Rs 130.43 crore for the state's equity share.
