Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has approved a proposal to raise up to ₹5,000 crore through the private placement of unsecured, non-convertible, non-cumulative, redeemable and taxable bonds. The fundraise, designated as POWERGRID Bonds – LXXXIV (84th) Issue 2026–27, was approved by the company’s Committee of Directors for Bonds on September 18, 2026.
The proposed bond issue comprises a base issue size of ₹1,000 crore and a green shoe option of ₹4,000 crore, bringing the total issue size to ₹5,000 crore. The bonds are proposed to be listed on both the BSE and NSE.
The bonds will have a tenure of 10 years from the deemed date of allotment, with annual redemption payments scheduled to begin at the end of the fourth year.
The coupon or interest rate and the payment schedule will be determined following bidding on the Electronic Book Provider (EBP) platform. The bonds will be unsecured, with no charge or security created over the company’s assets.
The proposed issue forms part of POWERGRID’s fundraising plans through the issuance of taxable, redeemable bonds on a private placement basis.
