Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process for establishing an Inter-State Transmission System for the integration of power from renewable energy projects in Lakadia Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) in Gujarat.
The project, titled “Transmission system for Integration of Power from RE Projects in Lakadia REZ in Gujarat-Phase II (7500MW)”, will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. POWERGRID has quoted annual transmission charges of ₹1,152.49 crore for the project. The company received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on September 3, 2026.
As part of the project, POWERGRID will establish a new 765/400kV Lakadia-II Sub-station in Gujarat. The development will also include the construction of 765kV transmission lines across Gujarat, along with associated equipment and bays.
The project further includes the installation and commissioning of a synchronous condenser at the Lakadia-II Sub-station, supporting the transmission infrastructure planned for the integration of renewable energy generated in the Lakadia REZ.
