Bajel Projects Limited has signed a collaboration agreement with the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and AnantGrid Private Limited to jointly explore opportunities in India’s power transmission sector, aligning with the country’s growing renewable energy ambitions and rising electricity demand.
The collaboration aims to leverage the combined strengths of the three entities to develop high-quality and cost-efficient power transmission projects across India. The initiative comes at a time when the country is accelerating investments in grid infrastructure to support its target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
Bajel Projects Limited, a leading player in India’s power EPC sector and part of the Bajaj Group, will work alongside NIIF—an alternative asset manager anchored by the Government of India—and AnantGrid, a power transmission developer promoted by NIIF. The collaboration framework proposes joint participation in transmission sector opportunities emerging from the government’s focus on renewable energy integration, grid modernization, and greater private sector participation.
Under the agreement, the partners will combine NIIF’s investment and asset management capabilities, AnantGrid’s business development and project management expertise, and Bajel’s engineering and execution strengths to deliver transmission projects efficiently and on schedule.
Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director & CEO, Bajel Projects Limited, said, “The purpose of this collaboration is to contribute to the significant power transmission growth opportunity in India. We intend to leverage Bajel’s EPC expertise, NIIF’s investment management capabilities, and AnantGrid’s project management acumen to deliver high-quality, timely, and cost-efficient power transmission projects. While we will continue our focus on EPC execution with our clients, this is an additional opportunity for us to participate in India’s growth story. By investing in our own growth, we are ensuring that it is benefiting the Indian Grid.”
Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Bimal Dayal, CEO, AnantGrid, said, “AnantGrid views power transmission as central to India’s growth. As the country accelerates its energy transition, significant capex will be required to meet rising electricity demand. We remain focused on building high-quality, reliable transmission assets. Our partnership with Bajel strengthens this commitment, enabling us to jointly bid and deliver projects of mutual interest and contribute to India’s grid expansion.”
Avener Capital acted as the sole financial advisor to Bajel for this collaboration with NIIF and AnantGrid.
