Salasar Techno Engineering GIS substation project Puducherry

Salasar Techno Engineering has won a Rs 68.67 crore Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) contract from Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) for the Puducherry Electricity Department (PED). The order, awarded in December 2025, is for a 110/22 kV GIS substation at Lawspet, Puducherry.

The contract covers the full scope of work: design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the substation. The facility is intended to improve power distribution efficiency in the area and strengthen the local grid’s resilience.

Officials say the new substation will meet current electricity demand while accommodating future growth driven by urbanisation and economic activity. The project is positioned as part of broader efforts to modernise high-voltage infrastructure and secure energy supply.

Shashank Agarwal, Managing Director of Salasar Techno Engineering, said: “Securing this GIS substation project from POWERGRID reflects Salasar’s continued progress in the high-voltage substation space. We remain committed to supporting India’s power sector transformation through efficient and technologically advanced solutions.”

The award reinforces Salasar’s role in India’s transmission sector and underscores ongoing investment in grid-strengthening projects that support long-term energy security and economic growth.
