Waaree Transpower high-capacity solar transformer for utility-scale projects in India

Waaree Transpower Pvt. Ltd., a company within the Waaree Group, has clinched a major supply order worth ₹100 crore for the production and delivery of high-capacity transformers. The order, placed by a leading solar EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) firm, covers a total capacity of 1.27 gigawatts of equipment for utility-scale solar power projects across India.

This milestone comes within the first month of Waaree Transpower’s operations under its new identity, following Waaree Energies’ acquisition of a controlling stake in Kotsons Private Limited earlier this year. The company has focused on manufacturing Inverter Duty Transformers (IDTs), which are specialised units designed to support high-frequency and high-voltage requirements typical of large solar installations.

According to the announcement, the transformers supplied under this order will be deployed across multiple states, although no specific delivery timeline has been disclosed. This contract underlines Waaree Transpower’s rapid entry into India’s renewable energy equipment market and highlights growing demand for grid-compatible power infrastructure as the country scales up its solar capacity.

Industry analysts view the order win as a strong start for the recently launched arm of the Waaree Group, signalling confidence among developers in its manufacturing capabilities and reinforcing the company’s role in supporting India’s clean energy expansion.
