REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has incorporated a new company named Musalgaon Power Transmission Limited as a wholly owned subsidiary to support power transmission infrastructure development.
The new entity was established on 20 December 2025 with an authorized and paid-up capital of ₹5 lakh, marking the first step in executing a planned 220/132/33 kV air-insulated substation (AIS) transmission project in Musalgaon, Nashik district, Maharashtra.
The incorporation follows an order issued by the Government of Maharashtra in October 2025, which allocated the intra-state transmission project to RECPDCL. Acting as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC), RECPDCL will oversee the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process to select a transmission service provider for the project. Once the bidding is complete and a successful bidder is identified, Musalgaon Power Transmission Limited will be transferred to the winning entity along with its assets and liabilities.
As a newly formed company, Musalgaon Power Transmission Limited has yet to commence commercial operations. The formation of this subsidiary underscores REC’s ongoing role in supporting power system expansion and transmission infrastructure across the country through specially structured project vehicles.
The step also aligns with broader efforts to enhance grid capacity and electrification in emerging regional markets, helping to ensure reliable and efficient power delivery in support of India’s energy goals.
