The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has issued the draft of the CEA (Technical Standards for Construction of Electrical Plants and Electric Lines) (2nd Amendment) Regulations, 2025. The draft aims to update and refine technical standards governing the design, construction, and operation of electrical plants and transmission lines across India.
According to the authority, the proposed amendments focus on enhancing safety, improving operational efficiency, and aligning existing norms with technological advancements in the power sector. The draft also addresses modern requirements related to renewable energy integration, system reliability, and environmental considerations in the construction of electrical infrastructure.
Stakeholders, including power utilities, equipment manufacturers, and regulatory bodies, have been invited to provide feedback on the draft regulations within the stipulated consultation period. The finalized amendments are expected to provide clearer guidelines for developers and operators while ensuring the secure and efficient operation of India’s growing electricity network.
The move underscores CEA’s ongoing efforts to modernize technical standards, support sustainable development, and strengthen the country’s power transmission and distribution framework.
